Wait; iPhone 8 Is The Design Overhaul The Public Has Been Waiting For

On September 7, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus made their big reveal to the public eye. Some short weeks after, the units were released in the market. And while both of Apple's newest flagships were a little controversial, they were still flying off the shelves. However, it is the iPhone 8 that is expected to come out with all the best innovations that the Cupertino-based company has to offer.

One of the biggest issues with the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus was the design. Other than a few rearranged antenna lines and a missing 3.5mm audio jack, the devices looked almost frustratingly like their direct predecessors. So the public had a bit of fun and made jokes of the release.

Nevertheless, the device is doing relatively well in the market. Millions of units were pre-ordered despite what were arguably minimal improvements and added features. These included an all new dual system camera from the iPhone 7 Plus, Lightning cable-powered earphones, and larger storage space.

Many have argued that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were just fillers and that Apple is actually holding out its best ideas for the iPhone 8, which would be the company's 10th-year-anniversary unit. With the current reports on the upcoming device's design and all that it brings with it, consumers might need to consider waiting for it instead of grabbing at the current market.

According to Yahoo, the iPhone 8 is estimated to arrive without bevels or boarders. Furthermore, there will be no home button as it will be hidden beneath the screen. In essence, Apple's anniversary unit will just be one large display.

Removing the home button negates the need for a bottom bezel altogether, which in then gives Apple much more room underneath the device of the unit. However, the top bezel is responsible for the light sensor a proximity sensor, the front facing camera and the front speaker. Because of all these features, it will be a little more complicated to remove the bezel.

The publication goes on to state that a new patent filed by Apple indicates that the company plans to transfer the front facing sensor beneath the display, much like the home button. Likewise, the same is planned for the light sensor. The transfer of these two items should be enough for Apple to dramatically decrease the size of the upper bezel, which would again make room for better specs within the device.

Business Insider adds that Apple is planning to manufacture the iPhone 8 with mostly glass and an aluminum frame. This will be a throwback to the 4th generation of the iPhone, which sported glass rears. But more importantly, it also serves as proof that Apple is planning a border-less and bezel-less device.

And while these design innovations might be exactly what the public has been waiting for, what this means for the smartphone community is even more impressive. In order to rid itself of buttons and bezels, the iPhone 8 needs to develop more pressure-sensitive technology. The Cupertino-based company will also need to embed the Touch ID fingerprint sensor within the display.

If Apple can pull all of this off, it is essentially altering how the public sees smartphones - again. If you are not the type to purchase every single model of the iPhone, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus looks completely skippable. Instead, wait for Apple's all-new and game-changing iPhone 8.
