Mass Effect 3 – Leviathan DLC Arriving On Aug. 28

Bioware has revealed the official date for the arrival of its highly anticipated "Leviathan DLC", which is meant for the company's hottest title of this year - "Mass Effect 3." The DLC is set to launch on Aug. 28 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

The release date has arrived after the company revealed a set of screenshots for the upcoming DLC, alongside the press release for the update. However, this is not the first time that the DLC has been in news. Voice artiste Anthony Skordi was the first to confirm DLC's impending arrival. Skordi, in an interview with Eurogamer, confirmed that he was to play the Reaper named Leviathan in the then unannounced add on. The new add on, which is set before the ending of "Mass Effect 3," will center on a traitorous Reaper named Leviathan.

The new storyline revolves around Leviathan, a traitor, who killed one of his own and has been exiled for 10 years. Leviathan controls a programmed Batarian colony where Shepard meets him, after being sent to rescue scientist Ann Brynson, and can have him join the fight against the Reapers.

"Something lurks in the dark corners of space, something powerful enough to kill a Reaper. Shepard must discover the most closely guarded secret in the galaxy before the Reapers silence it forever. Discover more about the origins of the Reapers as you race across the galaxy to find the Leviathan. Unravel the dark history of the Reaper Race before it is too late. Coming later this summer there is no war, only the harvest," states the game's official page.

"Taking place during the events of Mass Effect 3, players will be thrust into the darkest corners of space where they will hunt a mysterious being rumored to be powerful enough to destroy a Reaper. As they race against time, they will begin to unravel the secret of the Leviathan."

The original "Leviathan" pack will be available for $10 or 800 Microsoft points. The DLC will be available on Aug. 29 for PlayStation 3 users in Europe.
