Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – Official Cinematic Trailer Revealed

Valve has released a brand new cinematic trailer for its upcoming online first-person shooter “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.”

The cinematic trailer was developed at Valve using the Source Filmmaker and, according to the company, the beta has provided them with great feedback, and all of the players who joined them recently have helped contribute to the development of the game.

“Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” is set to feature classic content, such as old maps, as well as brand new maps, characters, and game modes. It will also support matchmaking and leaderboards, and an Elo rating system (a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in two-player games) is also expected to prioritize matching players by skill.

Previously, cross-platform multiplayer was planned between Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and PlayStation 3 players, but was ultimately limited to PC and Mac due to the differences in update frequency between the systems. The PlayStation 3 version, however, will offer three control methods, which include using the DualShock 3 controller, PlayStation Move, or USB keyboard/mouse.

The game is planned to arrive with Bomb Defusal, Hostage Rescue, and two new game modes called Arms Race and Demolition. These new modes are collectively referred to as "Arsenal mode" and are based on the popular gungame mod for “Counter Strike” and “Counter Strike: Source.”

“Global Offensive” is slated for an Aug. 21, 2012 release. It will be available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Xbox 360 via the Xbox Live Arcade, and PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network.
