Good news for Android-based Facebook users is in the offing. The social networking giant is apparently pushing out a brand new update for Android users. The update has added a host of new features and aims to deliver an improved social networking experience.
Although there are no bug fixes or performance improvements listed in the changelog (which is the norm), the revision has three notable features: the ability to easily create events, photo sharing becomes faster with a brand new picture upload flow, and the option to add photos and emoji to messages.
The new version is 1.9.8 and is currently available in the Play Store.
Additionally, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission has cleared Facebook's planned acquisition of mobile photo-sharing service Instagram in a unanimous vote, FTC revealed on Wednesday.
The clearance has arrived a week after the UK Office of Fair Trading cleared the deal. This ruling now paves the way for Facebook to complete the acquisition of the online photo-sharing company.
The commission also stated that it had voted 5-0 to close its non-public investigation into the anti-trust insinuations of the proposed acquisition.
