One of the highly anticipated original shows on Netflix is the movie adaptation of the hit Japanese anime and manga "Death Note." There's been little news on the movie production but Adam Wingard, the director who will take over the American remake, teased fans that they can look forward to more mature content from the adaptation when it is released on Netflix in 2017.

The Netflix adaptation of "Death Note" would be directed by Wingard who is the man behind "Blair Witch." Based on reports, this would be his first time to direct a live-action film but he promised that it will feature adult themes. Viewers can expect to see a lot of nudity and violence. Wingard will collaborate with Grindhouse director Jason Eisener.
Nat Wolff would portray Light Turner, Keith Stanfield will be L, Paul Nakauchi will be Watari, Margaret Qualley plays Mia Sutton while Willem Daffoe would be the voice actor behind the death god Ryuk.
"Death Note" Story Line
"Death Note" revolves a young man Light who finds the notebook of a Shinigami or a Death God. He discovers that he can kill someone by writing that person's name on the notebook. Despite his good intentions, he eventually finds himself using the powers of the notebook for his benefit. An investigator, L, tries to find out who he is and they become archenemies who are bent on getting ahead of each other.
At the moment, there's no news on the specific arc that will be covered by the movie adaptation. It's also worth pointing out that the film is set in North America. Hence, it will reflect all the social norms in the region although it would stay true to the storyline in the manga and anime.
Due to its popularity, there have been numerous live-action films for "Death Note" in Japan; the latest film is "Death Note Light Up The New World." The Netflix adaptation of "Death Note" is scheduled for release in 2017 and the cast and crew have been keeping production details under wraps.
