While we earlier reported that Facebook had already pushed out new updates for Android-based devices, a new report states that Android devices aren’t the only one getting the newest version of the social networking app, and that Facebook is also pushing out updates for the iPhone and iPad that will deliver some improvements of their own.
The new release for iOS is purely about speed. You will see the improvements first hand once you open the app on your iDevice, as it will respond faster than usual. Facebook 5.0 for iOS is twice as fast as the previous version when launching the app, scrolling through news feed and opening photos in feed.
The key to providing a faster interface lies with the fact that Facebook, reportedly, has “rebuilt the app from the ground up, so now the app opens much faster and your news feed and notifications load right when you open Facebook.”
What’s more, as you scroll down your news feed, all your friends’ stories appear faster than ever. A banner lets you know when new stories come in, and you can tap once to immediately see the latest updates.
As far as Facebook photos are concerned, you can now tap on any photo and watch it open in a flash. Later, you can also pull down to close it with a single swipe.
Facebook 5.0 is already available for download in Apple’s App Store.
