Motorola had already shown some effort to unlock phone bootloaders previously. Although the list of devices included names like the Photon Q 4G, RAZR Developer Edition, XOOM and XOOM WiFi, fans and customers expected more Moto devices to be added to the list. But now we have some bad news.
Answering a question on Twitter, when a Motorola phone owner wanted to know whether previous devices will be getting the same bootloader treatment, the company stated “that is not currently in the plan”.
The company also didn’t mention anything about the DROID RAZR, but it can now be assumed that only newer devices will receive the unlock treatment.
Elsewhere, it has been reported that Motorola DROID M could hit Verizon for $149 next month. Both Verizon and Motorola are possibly preparing to announce not one, but two new devices next month.
Further details have arrived stating that a Moto device that was previously tagged as RAZR Mini, has now been listed as the Motorola DROID M for Verizon. This smartphone is expected to be a mid-range device and could accompany the company’s new DROID RAZR HD.
We don’t have much information about the DROID M (XT907), but it is being said that the device will be rather close to the RAZR in terms of specs, except for a decent upgrade in the CPU department.
Rumors have the device detailed as sporting a 4.3-inch qHD 960 x 540 display (not HD) and running on the 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, similar to the Galaxy S3 and DROID RAZR HD.
