Samsung, even after being crucified for lifting Apple's innovations, apparently has not given up being innovative. However, this time round the Korean tech giant has given Apple no room for copycat accusations. Samsung announced that it will be releasing a 1:1 ratio square display (UD22B) and an all-in-one transparent display (NL22B) at the IFA 2012 event in Berlin.
According to Samsung, the new distinctive 1:1 ratio square display and all-in-one transparent display showcase "provide business owners with extraordinary solutions for creating entirely new types of promotional displays in retail, commercial and public locations."
Dubbed the UD22B, the 1:1 ratio square display comes with unlimited configurations and opens up new potential for creating immersive visual experiences. With a bezel of just 5.5mm and 21.6 inches of screen real estate, the UD22B lets "commercial users explore limitless possibilities as they design artistic video walls" by chaining up to 100 separate units together. Moreover, Samsung has packed in environment friendly Direct LED backlight technology in the UD22B square display, which will generate less heat and reduce power consumption by more than 30 percent (when compared to existing LCD display technology) and lower operating costs.
The all-in-one transparent display, known as NL22B, is a 22-inch transparent display that is placed at the front of a cuboid case. The case also comes with a built-in computer for video control and speakers for atmospheric sound.
Samsung claimed that "the thin LCD panel on the front of the transparent display allows images and animations to dynamically interact with the merchandise inside the showcase while still enabling passers-by to view the product."
