Flipboard Introduces Curated Video Sections

Flipboard, the popular tablet and smartphone reading app, just a day after announcing the 20 million users milestone, has introduced a curated video section called Flipboard TV.

The new TV section is a combination of watching videos with the print-magazine experience. Users will now be able flip through pages of video (which popular YouTube channels will power) organized into topics such as sections for music, including NPR and Pitchfork videos, cooking (content from the Food Network), and news content from ABC and Al Jazeera.

The Flipboard TV sections are as follows:

  • Music TV:Keeps the users updated with the most popular music content currently available. Users can now watch the latest indie music videos on Noisey and follow NPR Music's Tiny Desk Concert series for close sessions with up-and-coming artists. Pitchfork TV, on the other hand, catches live show moments.
  • Catwalk TV:This will provide users with the latest fashion trends, fresh off the catwalks in Paris, Milan, Tokyo, New York City etc. Moreover, YouTube channels like Fashion TV and Videofashion cover global runways and rising models. Users will also get a glimpse of new campaigns from individual designers.
  • Influencer TV:Users will be treated to big ideas from leading innovators and creative thinkers. Influencer TV includes a TED Talks lecture on creating awe by Rob Legato (the Visual Effects Supervisor for "Titanic" and "Hugo").
  • Science TV:This is entirely dedicated to cool experiments and surprising scientific facts. VSauce will be available to answer any science-related questions. Also available is SciShow to provide scientific explanations for everyday quandaries.
  • Cooking TV:A great channel for foodies and aspiring home chefs, these cooking videos aim to add to a user's existing culinary skills. Chow.com and Food Network TV will aid users in honing their skills.
  • News TV:Users will be updated on current events via leading news outlets. Storm and earthquake alerts from Associated Press and ABC News, followed by the 2012 presidential campaigns by CBS News, and international news from Al Jazeera, will be available.

Users will just need to open Flipboard from their respective devices, tap the red ribbon and open the Content Guide to watch TV Sections.
