A new update released for T-Mobile-based Samsung Galaxy S2's UVLH1 has introduced a host of bug fixes and released improvements over the previous Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. The update also incorporates improved NFC and ISIS features. However, in the process, Samsung has also disabled the Universal Search feature.
This update is not a novelty as a similar "fix" was discovered in T-Mobile's version of the Galaxy S3 a couple of weeks ago. The decision to get rid of the Universal Search feature is not a welcome move as users will be limited to certain web results, via the searching option on their phone, rather than getting to know what's actually in their phones.
So, for example, if a user is searching for Twitter, the device will automatically direct him or her to Twitter.com and other related Google search features. However, the Twitter app installed on the device will not pop up.
According to an Android Police report, the decision to sneak in the change, along with the new update, is surprising as there were no changelogs that accounted for the new change.
