The premiere episode of "The Originals" season 4 is yet to air but there are already numerous controversies surrounding the series. For one, the number of episodes has been reduced to almost half of the original number and now, there's talk that the series will find itself in ABC's backyard.
"The Originals" Season 4
Fans are expecting that "The Originals" season 4 will start five years after the season 3 finale. Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) would need some help getting out of prison. The most popular fan theory is that Caroline from "The Vampire Diaries" will save him. Since "The Vampire Diaries" is having its series finale, fans are hoping that they will end it with a crossover with "The Originals."
Nothing has been confirmed yet but there was a scene between Klaus and Caroline that made fans excited about a possible crossover. While everything is just speculation for now, it is possible that The CW will go for this plot.
"The Vampire Diaries" Spin-off's Transfer to Another Network
After its steadily dropping viewership, "The Originals" season 4 dropped the number of episodes from 23 to just 13. There are also reports that The CW is using its newest deal with Netflix to salvage the show. After the rating for season 3 dropped to just 0.39 for the 18-49 demographic after Davina (Danielle Campbell) and Cami (Leah Pipes) were killed off, it was easy to see that the series was headed off to a cancellation or a finale.
"The Originals" season 4 is expected to be the final season, although fans of the series might get another shot since there is also talk that ABC will pick it up. As of the moment, there has been no confirmation from the networks, although it would be interesting to see how the future of the "TVD" spin-off series evolves.
"The Originals" season 4 is scheduled to air in January 2017.
