Before the end of October, Apple is expected to make an announcement of its upgraded next-gen MacBook Pro 2016 laptop that will come with many changes. But how good its flagship device will really be?
MacBook Pro 2016 To Launch Soon
Apple's fans have been waiting patiently for the Cupertino company to reveal a new MacBook. Their waiting might soon end if the rumors suggesting Apple will make a big announcement on Oct. 27 will prove to be true. As Apple's flagship laptop line hasn't seen a major upgrade since 2012, the company is expected to implement many changes in the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016.
At the moment, most models in Apple's MacBook Pro line are full price yet years out of date. Apple's laptop sales have dropped in the past months because consumers are waiting for a new-gen MacBook Pro, aware that buying old models would be bad investments. Tech experts on various specialized websites such as Laptopmag.com, for instance, agree that MacBook Pro laptops are extremely outdated.
What is even worse is the fact that the pace of MacBook Pro updates is not just impacting consumers. There are also developers who are considering abandoning the platform, according to Forbes. They are complaining that the outdated platform is interfering in a negative way with their developing tools.
According to the British publication Express, there are speculations suggesting that Apple may even move its quarterly earnings call from Oct. 27 to Oct. 25. This means that the MacBook will be unveiled a couple of days earlier than previously expected. A change of date might actually make sense, because Apple's rival Microsoft is also planning to launch several new products on Oct. 26, including its updated Surface PC.
MacBook Pro 2016 Changes
Rumours suggest that the upcoming all-new 13 and 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro will come with larger ForceTouch trackpad, a slimmer aluminum chassis, and OLED touchscreen display. Apple is currently working to improve the software features for the touchscreen panel that will replace the traditional row of function keys. The new OLED touchscreen display will be able to surface buttons specific to the app used, adapting and changing in real-time to what it is actually happening on-screen.
While watching a movie in iTunes, the touchscreen might allow users, for example, to quickly scrub through video with the swipe of a finger. MacBook Pro users will have the possibility to potentially add frequently-used apps and their own custom shortcuts to the screen. Like the Touch ID sensor on the iPad and iPhone, the OLED touchscreen will be also capable of scanning user's fingerprint. Users will be able to verify their identity and start the device with a single tap on the biometric sensor built into the power button. MacBook Pro 2016 - How Good Will Really Be?
At first, all these expected changes might sound exciting. But how good will really be the upcoming Apple flagship laptop upgrade? At the moment, MacBook Pro's physical design seems frozen in time. And what's worse is the fact that the internal hardware isn't much better either.
The redesigned MacBook Pro will be thinner and have a flatter keyboard. Another addition will be the USB-C ports. MacRumors reports on a new rumor that claims Apple is working on a keyboard that uses an e-ink display underneath the keys, changing dynamically to match what the user's actions. However, there are small odds that are going to be implemented in the MacBook Pro, 2016 model.
Some tech experts speculate that Apple will introduce Intel's latest Kaby Lake processor in the new MacBooks. A processor upgrade would be much needed, as the MacBook Pro line still uses at the moment the outdated Intel Haswell processor in the 15-inch model and the Broadwell processor in the 13-inch model. Another rumor suggests that the 15-inch MacBook Pro 2016 will include AMD's latest Polaris GPUs. If these rumors and speculations will prove to be true, then the MacBook Pro 2016 line will truly be a great upgrade.
