Amazon Signs Video Content Deal with EPIX

Online shopping retailer and media and hardware manufacturer Amazon has struck a brand new content deal with EPIX for Prime Instant Video service.

The deal is set to bring some much-welcomed big name titles, such as "The Avengers," "Iron Man 2," "The Hunger Games", and more. Traditionally, Amazon has been known to provide weaker streaming options when compared to Netflix. However, all that is about to change as EPIX's Prime Instant Video service has over 25,000 titles available for streaming with no downloading on every device that supports the service, which include Xbox, PlayStation 3, Roku, and Amazon's Kindle Fire.

The company has stated that customers who are not yet Prime members can either enjoy a free one month out of the box trial with Kindle Fire or sign-up for a free trial at Amazon.com, which would enable them to enjoy on any device that streams Prime Instant Video.

According to Bill Carr, VP of Video and Music at Amazon, the company is "investing hundreds of millions of dollars to expand the Prime Instant Video library for our customers. We have now more than doubled this selection of movies and TV episodes to over 25,000 titles in just under a year."

"We can tell from the data that our customers love watching movies on Prime Instant Video. We think customers will really enjoy watching new titles like The Avengers, Iron Man 2 and The Hunger Games on their Kindle Fire, PlayStation 3, Xbox, iPad or any of the other of the Amazon Instant Video compatible devices," Carr added.

Amazon Prime is an annual membership program that is available for $79 a year and offers customers unlimited free two-day Shipping on millions of items including books, home and garden products, electronics, video games, clothing, and much more.
