Google Drive for iOS and Android: In-app Editing Arriving Soon

Google is at it again. Apparently, the company made an announcement well before its time and later decided to delete the post. Per reports, the company revealed plans and details of incoming updates for Google Drive on iOS and Android.

The announcement was also validated with a tweet that was sent out from the correlating Twitter account, and although the company decided to delete both, a few managed to get hold of the release notes.

"Oops, you weren't supposed to see that. Stay tuned, we'll be sharing more info on Drive's mobile apps soon," the post stated.

According to the notes, Drive's iOS users are set to receive a major feature i.e. in-app editing of documents, which has been continuously requested since the Google Drive's inception on the platform.

This feature could be a one as it will make changes to the app's current behavior, which directs users to Safari if they wish to make any changes to their files. Unfortunately though, the post doesn't indicate whether offline editing will also be supported. Moreover, the iOS app is also set to gain the ability to view Google Presentations.

As far as Android users are concerned, they will be treated to even more benefits when the update finally arrives as Google will be adding full support for folders. This support will be a major help for users who frequently work with spreadsheets, as a new option to create and edit tables will be added.

Additionally, per a Tech Crunch report, commenting on documents will also be enabled with the yet-to-be-public revision. Although an exact date for the update's arrival is uncertain, the recent leak indicates that it will arrive soon.
