Amazon Kindle Tabet, eReader Family Soon Receiving a Smartphone?

With several players like Apple, Nokia, Motorola, and HTC readying to unveil their new offering, September, perhaps, is going to be the busiest months for smartphone manufacturers and users. Now, reports suggest that Amazon too is hopping onto the bandwagon and is gearing up to launch its first Kindle smartphone.

In an exclusive report, The Verge disclosed that multiple sources have confirmed to them the existence of an Amazon-made smartphone. Amazon, reportedly, is holding a press event today (Sept. 6) where the e-retailing giant will be unveiling its first smartphone along with a new e-reader and updates to its Kindle Fire tablet.

Of late, the Internet world was abuzz with the rumors and speculations regarding the upcoming Kindle Fire and new backlit "Paperwhite" Kindle e-reader. Several leaked images of the devices and rumored features had surfaced on the Internet.

According to The Verge, the new Amazon smartphone will be running the same customized variant of Android that runs on the Kindle Fire and will use Nokia as its maps and location-based app partner.

Unfortunately, consumers have to wait for more information on the device as Amazon is keeping its latest surprise strictly under wraps.
