Are you still playing Pokemon Go? If you are, which features kept you hooked? Good thing though, you are not alone in your goal to becoming the very best despite the many reports of Pokemon Go's decrease in popularity.
Pokemon Go Hype Gone?
Is Pokemon Go's popularity really gone? While you might think otherwise as you can still see hordes of players at several Pokestops or at lure events in your local community, BBC reported that data from Axiom Capital Management has seen a 10 million decline in players for July 5 to Aug.16 period. So it was somewhat expected that Pokemon Go gyms would not be as surrounded with players, unlike before. Gone were the times when your friends would just message you in the middle of the night hoping to capture a rare Pokemon.
While there have been a couple of speculations on the Pokemon Go decline of players, which included technical changes and game feature adjustments, still, these did not faze Pokemon Go players from Copenhagen.
Hej København!
Pokemon Go players from Copenhagen, Denmark are reported to still flock the various nests which The Silph Road has pointed out. According to a redditor named DrHeadgear, one specific popular Pokenest in Copenhagen is the 'Det kongelige Biblioteks Have'. Ten to fifteen players were even said to take minibuses just to hit Pokestops. And if you're thinking yes, okay, not uncommon for High School students to still be in the hype, you're wrong. Most Pokemon Go trainers from Copenhagen happen to be adults and even adults with children.
As DrHeadgear reported in a Pokemon Go reddit topic, "Having heard so much about the player-base abandoning the game, I was expecting to see a handful of twenty something grinders and a few kids who hadn't let go yet. Instead, I saw somewhere between 200-250 people, absolutely loads were kids, plenty of player-parents, some player-grandparents and then the usual 20-somethings.I almost got mown down by the rush of little people when a Lapras was spotted, and witnessed the pure, unaldulterated joy of a 7 year old with his first Lapras."
This probably brought you back to how you got your first Lapras, right? For now, Niantic has been teasing us with Pokemon Go updates and a couple of add-ons and bug fixes so despite the reported decline, trainers are still in for anything new - be it the addition of second gen Pokemon or a trading system which is in everyone's wishlist. Still, the happiness it brings to players age 4 to 70 is immeasurable.
