It has been three months since Niantic released Pokemon Go for mobile gamers to get crazy on. Since then, not only did it lure Pokemon loyal players but also new players who weren't even familiar with the Pokemon game franchise. It's a good thing, right? Bringing in the Pokemon fans and newbies together, having the same goal - to be the very best.
For those who have been following Niantic's announcements regarding Pokemon Go way before the augmented reality game was launched, did you remember the developer frequently mentioning that the game is still at its basic stage? Adding to the questionable release of Pokemon Go, Niantic even said that the game is still on its 10% and yet it was released just a few months after that claim. This then brings us to the main question...
Is Pokemon Go half-baked?
According to Vibhav Vibsz's blog in Otakukart, Pokemon Go release seemed to be quite earlier than expected. As they said, "didn't they have a certain role to develop the game to at least 50%?". Though it can be logical for Niantic releasing it early so as to have user reviews, still the game somewhat lacked features that would completely make a loyal Pokemon gamer satisfied.
It has been rumored that Pokemon Go will soon add Generation 2 Pokemon probably in 2017 and if this indeed happens, Niantic does seem pretty serious in taking the hit AR mobile game to the next level. Of course, with the rumored trading feature added, why, Pokemon Go will sure bring those old players back in.
Niantic Game Designer and Narrative Creator, Raza Ahmad, said in a panel at UCLA's FuturizeX event, "Pokemon Go is in the very beginning of what you will see in the fullness of time. This is page one of chapter one. It's not even fully released! We're still trying to adapt to the needs of our player base, and we're trying to adhere to the vision of how to build a community game based on the principles of augmented reality."
Pokemon Go Full Tracker Soon?
Now in regards to Niantic Pokemon Go suspending third-party apps, Ahmad had this to say, "I'm not in the development team so I can't comment on our content release schedule. But what I can say is our intent with Pokemon is aligned to our vision of community exploration, and that won't be going away anytime soon. Whether that includes a full tracker or not, at this point, I can't say."
Pokemon Go seems to be really promising, yes? So for now, whatever percent the game is still on to its full development, gamers capturing Pokemon are still here to stay. Who knows, the game might add more interesting features for a more challenging quest to becoming the very best.
