Top 7 Most Terrifying Games That Will Definitely Scare You Out Of Your Wits

Now is the time to be a great fan of horror games as Halloween nears. More than ever, this genre has been producing games that throw us out of our seats, if not petrify us to death.

We set out to name the top 7 scariest games that will stir out panic as you celebrate the Halloween Season.

7. Visage

This upcoming horror game is scheduled to launch in January 2017. It literally has crazy and compelling hyper-real visuals intended to put you out of your seats [same as it did to me]. When Konami's Silent Hills and Playable Teaser was pulled out from the PlayStation Store, Visage level designer Jonathan Vallieres decided to turn the prototype into a game of its own.

The house is typically the central location of the game. As it unfolds, newspapers, paintings, television and other information seen inside the house work together to convey a series of stories linked to the larger narrative.

Check out Visage's gameplay footage below.

6. Friday the 13th

Its release may be delayed next year, but the creators of Friday the 13th found a way to keep its fans more excited than ever. Adding new features such as a single player mode, this game couldn't get any scarier.

In Friday the 13th, you may choose to take on the role of a teen counselor or for the first time, the merciless killer, Jason Voorhees. You and six other souls need to escape and survive the most well-known killer who will do everything to hunt you down and slaughter you to pieces.

Meanwhile, Jason will be given an array of abilities to track, hunt and take down his prey. You can scare your targets and kill them in the most brutal fashion you can imagine. It will be available on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo consoles.

5. Outlast 2

Perhaps one of the most anticipated horror games will finally be out in 2017 and can be played via Xbox, PS4 and Steam.

Outlast 2 is a survival horror game set out in the Sonoran Desert. It controls the freelance journalist Blake Langermann and just like its predecessor Outlast, it is set as a single-player campaign. The game follows two journalists working to uncover the truth behind the gruesome murder of a pregnant woman. After following the trail, the two find themselves in the Arizona desert surrounded by corruption and madness.

4. Scorn

The game, which is expected to be released in early 2017, brings you in a disturbingly isolated dream-like environment where you will explore different regions in a non-linear fashion.

It is an atmospheric first person horror adventure set in a nightmarish place of odd forms. Every location contains its own story and unveils puzzles and characters integral in the gameplay. The player will acquire different skill sets and weapons to destroy the gruesome sights and characters unveiled in the game.

If you are curious about how the game looks like, watch the video below.

3. Allison Road

The game, which is quite similar to P.T. and Silent Hill [probably the scariest trailer I've seen], puts you in a British townhouse and requires you to figure out what happened to the family by investigating all of the creepy noises, unsettling visuals and demonic ghosts that pop up along the way.

If you are brave enough, get your PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo ready and play this game during the night time. Packed with dark hallways and spine-tingling music tracks, you will definitely have the best Halloween ever.

2. We Happy Few

Unlike any other horror game, We Happy Few might be quite different. It is a game of paranoia and survival in a drugged out dystopian English city in 1964.

We Happy Few, which is out on PS4, Mac, Linux and Xbox One requires you to hide in plain sight among the joy happy citizens of Wellington Wells. If you get caught by the locals, they will become suspicious and eventually put you down. The characters you will be playing are flawed warped by the trauma they've been through. Each character has their own storyline reacting to the events of the world around them.

Let's see if you can still tune out a "Happy" song in this video.

1. What Remains Of Edith Finch

We have come to the scariest game of 2016. What Remains of Edith Finch is a twisted and brutal story about a cursed family in Washington State. Each story brings you to different preludes of family members from the early 1900s to the their deaths. Being a single-player character, you will take on the perspective of a young girl who morphs into a series of creatures on the hunt. Each creature offers its own unique perspective and story, lasting no more than a few minutes. As you follow Edith Finch and her family's history, the reason why she's the last Finch left alive begins to unfold.
