Amazon's newly launched Kindle Fire HD is better than Apple's iPad. The claim has been made by none other than Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of Amazon.
In an interview with AllThingsD, Bezos stated that "We have the best tablet at any price. Last year, we wanted to build the best tablet at a certain price. And, this year, we wanted to build the best tablet at any price. Take away the price and it's still the best tablet. It also happens to be only $499."
Referring to the newly unveiled Kindle Fire HD, Bezos clearly sent out the message that his new flagship tablet is better than iPad.
Amazon's new 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet offers 1920x1200 pixel resolution (254 ppi), 16:10 aspect ratio, and is available with a 4G LTE option, that too, 250MB of LTE data each month for an amazingly low $49.99 per year. The new tablet measures only 8.8mm thick and weighs 20 ounces. Inside, Amazon packs a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 OMAP4470 processor, dual Dolby Digital stereo speakers, a dual-band Wi-Fi chip, and two antennas for Wi-Fi reception, which run on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. According to Amazon, the Fire's Wi-Fi is 54 percent and 41 percent faster than the Nexus 7 and iPad 3, respectively.
Amazon's 8.9-inch Kindle Fire's Wi-Fi only and 4G LTE versions will set users back by $299, and $499, respectively. The tablet is expected to ship on Nov. 20.
