Valve has announced the first list of games that will be on Steam from Greenlight. These titles have been picked up for worldwide distribution and even include "Black Mesa."
Per reports, "Black Mesa: Source," "Cry of Fear," "Dream, Heroes & Generals," "Kenshi," "McPixel," "No More Room In Hell," "Project Zomboid," "Routine", and "Towns" are the first games that the company has successfully 'greenlighted'. The first set of titles to launch via Greenlight will be released independently in the months ahead.
"The Steam community rallied around these titles and made them the clear choice for the first set of titles to launch out of Greenlight," Valve business developer Anna Sweet explained via the company's blog. "Since launch, hundreds of titles have been submitted, with more coming in every day. We expect to be announcing more titles coming to Steam via Greenlight soon."
The selected games will be moved to a new Greenlit section within Greenlight (the section will be functional shortly), where they will be featured until they are released and made available on Steam, either as purchasable games or as free downloads (as few of these games are).
Valve, only recently, launched the Steam Greenlight. The new platform feature allows developers and publishers to post information and media about their game in an effort to convince the Community that the game should be released on Steam.
"Valve has been in touch to say that, through the power of community voting, we've been allowed a place on Steam!" read a statement on Project Zomboid's Greenlight page. "It's a massive day for us, and we'd like to take the opportunity to thank each and every person who clicked the Greenlight page on our behalf. It really does mean the world to us."
Valve's Anna Sweet stated that the company has been working on this feature for the last few months with inputs from a group of indie partners. Anna also noted that the response has been extremely positive.
