Stellaris Update: First DLC On Its Way, Release Date Revealed

At long last, developer and publisher Paradox Interactive is releasing the first ever DLC of Stellaris. The first story pack -- called Leviathans -- of the hit 4X grand strategy game is coming this week, with a promise of hefty features and contents. And to further cement its existence, the studio has unleashed a trailer, giving fans a look-see at what's coming.

According to PC Gamer, the upcoming Stellaris downloadable content was first announced last week. On the aforementioned video, it showcases the details of the so-called Enclaves, economics and a hoard of space creatures. This DLC is definitely a thing to look forward to.

For Stellaris game director Martin Anward, Enclaves are synonymous to traces of old races who found home on archaic space infrastructures. These are expected to arrive in three forms in Leviathans DLC -- namely, artists, traders and curators.

Artists on Stellaris are basically the ones who create art, which, in turn, bring happiness to a player's population. Second, traders are there to give out and/or trade valuable information while selling knowledge. And lastly, the curators are responsible for taking out energy and converting it into various useful resources.

The so-called Stellaris event War in Heaven features two Fallen Empires -- both of which were "awake from centuries of stagnation." After which, they rage war against each other. This is where players have to decide where to take their "fledgling empire," as the two decide to relive their old grievances.

The main feature of the forthcoming Stellaris DLC are the Guardians. The latter are divided into eight unique and different variants. They are considered as one of the ancient space creatures that possess "immense power." Players can decide to either investigate or battle them.

The Stellaris DLC titled Leviathans is due on Thursday, October 20. It's worth noting that the aforesaid date is also the scheduled release of the title's Heinlein 1.3 patch.
