Diablo 3 – Patch 1.0.5 Detailed, Makes Players Take Less Damage

Blizzard has announced the arrival of patch 1.0.5 for the company's popular action role-playing title "Diablo 3."

The upcoming patch is set to boast some big changes. The patch has redesigned the crowd control abilities and according to technical designer Wyatt Cheng, a set of nerfs for both the gamer as well as the enemy. This redesigning has been done to ensure that the player receives less overall damage.

Cheng also states that the company is doing this because high incoming monster damage along with extremely powerful defensive abilities make those skills and runes feel mandatory.

"Our goal is that by simultaneously nerfing defensive skills and reducing incoming damage, players who choose to continue using these defensive skills will take less damage overall, and players who choose to forego these "mandatory" skills will find themselves more survivable than what you would currently experience on live. Overall, these changes result in a huge buff in the player's favor," said Cheng.

Blizzard has also put up a pie chart that shows how much players rely on these overpowered defense skills:

Basically, with some characters having access to many defensive powers (particularly, the Wizard), it makes other characters weak in comparison. This change that Blizzard will implement is going to be a big one as all monster damage in Inferno is going to see a 25 percent reduction.
