Barely a year has lapsed since Samsung released its Galaxy Nexus smartphone and speculations are rife that a next-generation Galaxy Nexus is on the cards.
PocketNow has identified that the User Agent Profile has a mention of the next Galaxy Nexus. Known by its model number "GT-i9260", the next Nexus device is expected to come with a resolution of 1280 x 720, similar to its predecessor. The Google flagship device will also sport an ARM processor with a rumored 1.5GHz dual-core A9 CPU and 2GB RAM.
Back in August, SamMobile claimed that the next Galaxy Nexus would feature a 4.65-inch display and would have a microSD slot. The report also stated that Samsung will be addressing the poor camera performance of the original Nexus and will pack in an upgraded 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera in the new phone.
Meanwhile, a report from a Japanese Webs site claimed that not only Samsung but other leading smartphone makers like LG and Sony were also working on upcoming Google nexus devices. According to the site, Japan's leading wireless carrier, NTT Docomo has three different Nexus-branded devices from Samsung, Sony, and LG on its winter roadmap. The devices will be Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2, LG Optimus Nexus, and Sony Xperia Nexus.
As far as the name of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus device is concerned, while the Japanese Web site claimed that it would be called the Galaxy Nexus 2, folks at Ubergizmo believe it may be named the Galaxy Nexus Plus or Galaxy Premier.
