It seems as if Sony's latest handheld, PS Vita, has got some major upgrades heading its way. Per reports, PlayStation Plus, the subscription-based service that supplies PS3 owners with a continuous flow of free and discounted games, is set to become available to Vita owners starting this November.
In August this year, at Gamescom, Sony had announced that the PlayStation Plus would be coming to PlayStation Vita; however, a specific month for the device's arrival was not given. Additionally, the company will be providing an Instant Game Collection to PS Vita owners along with the same features that many of them already enjoy for PlayStation 3 (PS3).
"We announced back at Gamescom that PlayStation Plus would be coming to PlayStation Vita (PS Vita), and today we're pleased to announce that our premium game membership will make its debut on PS Vita in November, providing an Instant Game Collection to PS Vita owners along with the same features that many of you already enjoy for PlayStation 3 (PS3)," stated the PlayStation blog.
Users will only need one subscription for both consoles, which means that if they are already using the PlayStation Plus, the Vita service will be free as long as users retain their membership.
As far as the Instant Game Collection is concerned, it is a rotating selection of full games to download for free or at a discounted price. However, an official announcement about the titles that will be available is still awaited. What's more, an additional 1GB of online storage will be available for game saves for PS Vita games and previously downloaded content.
Other features include the Vita's ability to perform automatic saves and start up at a designated time to download and install select game demos and game updates. This feature will be similar for system software updates and, upon completion, the device will be re-directed to its standby mode.
Also, according to Sony, trophy information will be synched to PSN servers automatically via the PS Vita.
