iPhone DirecTV – Live Streaming, On-Demand Content Introduced

The DirecTV app for iPhone has received major upgrades. Per reports, users will now be able to stream on-demand video content directly from their iPhones. The newest upgrade for iPhone was already present for iPad and Android users.

The "Everywhere" feature from DirecTV is now available for iPhones and includes video on-demand access to a variety of shows and movies, irrespective of the user's location, along with the in-home only live TV streaming feature previously found on the iPad (Android will have to wait). Users will be able to access the content via the new "Watch on iPhone" tab.

DirecTV has also added its own exclusive Audience Network to the list of streaming channels, which will add additional content. This content includes both movies and television shows from networks including HBO, Starz, Encore, and Cinemax.

However, there's a catch. Like quite a few TV provider apps, it has been reported that the features will not work on jailbroken devices and even after users upgrade the app, it does not open. This issue implies that users could lose features like DVR scheduling.
