Asus is set to release the next-generation Padfone at simultaneous events scheduled in Milan and Taipei on Oct. 16, claims a recent report. The Taiwan-based manufacturer Asus has sent out invitations for the unveiling of the Padfone 2, revealed a picture published by Italian site Notebook Italia.
Asus' original Padfone was an intriguing device that packs in a tablet, smartphone, and a netbook together as one. Now, the company seems to be extending the Padfone line with the introduction of the Padfone 2.
Details regarding the specifications of Padfone 2 are scarce. However, a recently leaked benchmark test (translated) showed that the next-generation Padfone will be featuring Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM, an upgrade over its predecessor's dual-core 1.5GHz CPU and 1GB of RAM. The device is also expected to be sporting the new GPU Andreno 320 to offer improved 3D graphics performance.
No information about the release date of the device is currently available.
