Wal-Mart to Stop Selling Amazon Kindle Products

Retail giant Wal-Mart has reportedly ceased all ties with Amazon. A Reuters report indicates that Wal-Mart Stores Inc will be terminating all ties with Amazon.com Inc and will no longer sell the company's Kindle eReaders and tablets. The retailer will continue the sale of other gadgets and devices as usual.

"We have recently made the business decision to not carry Amazon tablets and eReaders beyond our existing inventory and purchase commitments," Wal-Mart said in an internal memo sent to store managers on Wednesday. "This includes all Amazon Kindle models current and recently announced."

Earlier this year, another retailer Target too severed its tie-up with the Seattle-based e-retailer claiming that there's a "conflict of interest" between its strategy and Amazon's.

Amazon, however, is unlikely to be affected by such moves as the company sells a majority of its products through its own Web site. Other retailers including Best Buy Co Inc. and RadioShack Corp. will continue selling Kindle products.

A Wal-Mart spokeswoman confirmed the company's decision to Reuters, whereas Amazon declined to comment.
