"Battlefield 3" fans via PC and Xbox 360 are now officially in for a treat with the biggest map in the history of the "Battlefield" series rolled out. Per reports, "Battlefield 3: Armored Kill" DLC is now available for both PC and Xbox 360 users and can be purchased from the game's official page.
"Battlefield 3: Armored Kill" ups the ante for the game's built-in vehicular mayhem. Featuring new drivable tanks, ATV's, mobile artillery, and more, the expansion pack also delivers huge battlefields for an all-out vehicle assault. Armored Kill also includes the biggest map in Battlefield history.
"Armored Kill" adds four new multiplayer maps - Alborz Mountains, Armored Shield, Bandar Desert, and Death Valley. Five new vehicles, including a new tank destroyer, two missile launchers, and the AC-130 Gunship - plus the new Tank Superiority game mode are now available.
Tank Superiority is the normal "King of the Hill" mode, which gamers are familiar with. Two sides of main battle tanks and tank destroyers fight it out over control of a single flag in an open area. The scale of the battle is slightly smaller on the console version of the mode as only one main battle tank is available, with the rest of the vehicles being tank destroyers.
The new details regarding the DLC and its availability have arrived after DICE released the changelog of the new September Patch for the game. Reports had indicated that the new update was scheduled to go live on Sept. 4 and would be auto-downloaded when users started the Origin client next time round.
If a user has not yet enabled the automatic updates or has forgotten, the Game Manager will notify them on the new update. Once the user agrees to the update, it will start downloading within the Origin client.
"Battlefield 3" has remained as one of the heavyweight first-person shooters at a time when the "Call of Duty" series dominates the market. Peter Moore, the high-profile COO of EA, asserted that "Battlefield 3" successfully managed to capture a slice of the market share, which "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" had held for so long.
