iOS 6 – Important Hidden Features and Tricks

iOS 6, the new mobile operating platform from Apple is out now and has brought with it nearly 200 new features. While it has been reported that over 100 million users have upgraded to the new iOS 6, the OS has more to offer than just the new Passbook and Maps applications.

The new OS has arrived with a set of hidden features and tricks that users would either normally bypass or would never find. Here's a list of the top tricks and hidden features that users could make use of in their everyday routine.

Improved Alarm Clock
No major complaint regarding the built-in clock and alarm in iOS have existed as the feature has always been fairly simple. Now, however, the clock and the alarm have been improved and will allow users to customize alarms for certain days of the week and set a tone as alarm, accordingly.

Users who have different schedules on different days of the week now have the option to Edit Alarm or Add Alarm settings, which will allow them to set a repeat alarm only on the specific days. The choice of tones or songs remains the same.

Photos in Mail
It is now possible to insert selected images into an e-mail draft. Users will need to tap and hold on a blank area in the e-mail and a cut-and-paste menu will appear. In portrait mode, however, tapping on the right arrow will bring up an option to insert a photo or a video. Note that if the device is in landscape mode, the menu item should appear naturally.

Privacy Setting/Ad Removal
Apple has provided controls that will help users determine which apps are accessing personal data. The controls will also help in tracking and removing advertisements in the main settings icon.

It is important to make full use of the Privacy tab in the main Settings menu. The Privacy tab gives a list of apps that are using Location Services or accessing private data. It also states which apps are accessing Twitter or Facebook data and users can switch on or off the unnecessary social media services.

As far as ads are concerned, users can Go to Settings - General - About, and scroll down to Advertising. Tap and then slide on "Limit Ad Tracking."

Shared Photo Stream
Users need not post photos on the Internet all the time, especially if the photo is meant to be confined to a selected number of people, The introduction of Photo Stream feature lets users select the photos and the friends they want to share them with.

However, this feature has been turned off by default and to turn it back on, users need to go to Settings - Photos and Camera.
