When Acer Iconia Tab first started to ship out with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, according to many users and tech experts, the experience wasn't really a smooth one. However, recent reports indicate that the manufacturer is now pushing out the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the device for a more enhanced experience.
The update had started rolling out initially in Germany and the rest of Europe starting Thursday, Sept. 27, but owners reported they were already receiving the software update notifications on Friday. Users in the U.S. and Holland also reported receiving the update on Friday, Sept. 28, affirming that Acer was actually pushing out the update for users.
The 10.1-inch Acer Iconia Tab A700, which was first introduced in the U.S. in June, features a primary 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash. A quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor clocked at 1.3GHz powers the device. The tablet has 1GB DDR2 of RAM.
The latest Jelly Bean update is expected to provide some much needed smoothness to the device's operation with the introduction of Project Butter. The manufacturer has asked users to ensure that they have a stable Internet connection before going ahead with the update process.
The new update's patch is nearly 332MB can be downloaded over the air (OTA). It is expected to provide some much needed balance to a device that currently boasts a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, and is one of the few tablets that actually comes with such a powerful processor.
The new Jelly Bean update for the Iconia Tab has brought about a host of changes and among them is a smoother user interface (UI) that can now compete with all the major tablets in the market. The device's browsing speed also gets a boost after the update, although users have continuously complained that they have experienced lags when using the Iconia Tab's native browser.
However, according to reports, the tablet's battery has also benefited from the Jelly Bean software update. The device currently features a 9800mAh battery that provides up to 10 hours of usage. With the new update finally making way, owners will now be able to use their device for a longer duration.
