HTC One X, One S Jelly Bean Update Set For October – More Details Arrive

More good news for HTC users as far as a new update in concerned. Per reports, HTC has stated that the highly-anticipated Jelly Bean update for its two major smartphones - HTC One X and One S - will start rolling out this October.

The information on the latest update arrived last month when it was reported that HTC was planning on pushing out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software update in October. Although the report, at that time, was not official, it did create some stir among One X users.

The One S, on the other hand, which was unconfirmed to get the Jelly Bean update, has also been included in the list of devices that will now get the latest Android OS. It was speculated that the update would arrive sometime before Christmas, along with a brand new device, the HTC One X+, which would arrive with the Jelly Bean update out of the box.

The Jelly Bean updates for the selected devices, alongside HTC's Sense 4+ UI, arriving this month. However, it is important to note that these updates have been scheduled for international devices and there is still some time before they arrive on U.S.-based handsets. Additionally, the Taiwan-based company revealed its new offering - the One X+ - a revamped version of its One X smartphone.

"We are taking the HTC One X to a new level with the introduction of the new HTC One X+," said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. "Our customers will have super-fast browsing, an even better camera and more immersive entertainment with Beats Audio."

The company states that as the device features a 1.7 GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 AP37 processor and 64GB of internal storage, it is now 67 percent faster than the HTC One X. Moreover, the device has been further boosted with the inclusion of a 2100 mAh battery, giving users up to 50 percent (6 hours) more talk time. This boost also means that the device will support more and longer exposure to the web than its predecessor, apart from playing music and videos.

The HTC One X+ will be available in Europe and North Asia from October and in South Asia from Nov. 2012. North America, however, will get a separate announcement regarding availability of the HTC One X+.
