FIFA 13, Resident Evil 6 Claim Massive Opening Day Figures

"FIFA 13" from EA and Capcom's "Resident Evil 6," since their release, have enjoyed massive boost from the games' sales and shipment figures. Both these games, riding on their popularity, have now shipped enough copies, which may pose to be a problem for other game development companies and publishers.

Per reports, Capcom has announced that "Resident Evil 6" has now shipped 4.5 million copies already worldwide since its release on Oct. 2. It is important to note that that these figures from Capcom are only the shipment figures, and not the sales figures. The company is yet to disclose the sales figures. Nonetheless, one can make an educated guess that if the company has already shipped this many numbers of copies, the sales figures will also turn out to be massive.

Additionally, Capcom has also confirmed that this is the highest initial shipment for any game in the publisher's history, and that the "Resident Evil" franchise has now gone on to sell 50 million units worldwide since it first arrived on the PlayStation in 1996.

This figure is quite an achievement for the company, especially taking into consideration all the criticism the game has faced post release. Though the sales figure for the current Resident Evil 6 game is yet to be revealed, the figures will not impact the game's popularity and fan base, which the company has steadily maintained since its introduction.

"FIFA 13" from EA Sports, on the other hand, has already released the sales figures, and, as expected, the game has done quite well, and remains to be the fans' primary choice for a footballing game over the company's nearest competitors "Pro Evolution Soccer 2013" from Konami.

This year's iteration of FIFA has become the biggest launch of 2012, surpassing heavyweights like "Mass Effect 3" and "Borderlands 2," and has gone on to sell a massive 4.5 million units in just five days.

"FIFA 13" has sold 1.23 million copies in the UK alone within the first 24 hours of its release, making it only the second franchise to have ever done so in that region. Previously, it also did well in the U.S., selling 353,000 copies on the first day itself.
