Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Officially Announced By T-Mobile

T-Mobile has officially announced the inclusion of the eagerly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to its U.S.-based line-up of smartphones. This development is a major one for the carrier, especially after it canceled its earlier plans of bringing the original Note to its portfolio of devices that were on offer.

Additionally, the Note 2 phablet will have the same specifications found on the global versions of the device, which will now be accessible by U.S. customers as well.

"The Samsung Galaxy Note II is the latest innovative device to join T-Mobile's portfolio. It takes the all-in-one device concept to the next level and we anticipate it will replace many standalone devices consumers have today," said Brad Duea, SVP product management, T-Mobile USA. "When combined with our Unlimited Nationwide 4G Data plan, the Galaxy Note II is a true powerhouse device with exclusive features, amazing 4G experiences and superior value that only T-Mobile can deliver."

The device will feature a 1.6GHz Exynos quad-core processor. It will have 2GB RAM and will come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS out of the box. The phablet will sport a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen and the device's 3100mAh battery will support up to 15 hours of talk time.

The company, nonetheless, has also added some fresh new offerings with the device. Customers who opt for the device, on a contract with the carrier, will also have access to "an exciting new racing game preloaded on the device, which will include three free levels." The game was previously stated to be "Need for Speed: Most Wanted."

Moreover, the carrier's exclusive version of the racing game is said to be optimized to interact with a MOGA (Mobile Gaming) System, which will bring a console-quality, immersive gaming experience with the device, exclusively for T-Mobile's customers.

The device is expected to be available in Titanium Gray and Marble White color options, and is anticipated to be available nationwide at T-Mobile retail stores, select national retailers and dealers, and also via the carrier's official Web site in the coming weeks.

The official announcement of the device has happened after it was previously rumored to arrive on Oct. 24, the same date when Samsung has a press event scheduled. Samsung expects to sell 20 million units of the Note 2, which is double the 10 million units that the original model sold when released.
