Battle of Androids: Samsung Galaxy S7 vs Sony Xperia XZ

Samsung and Sony are praised in the smartphone world, especially the Galaxy S7 and Xperia XZ. Below is a review wherein we highlight all the specs and features of the two smartphones to help you choose the best device.

Body and Display

The Sony Xperia XZ sports a metallic chassis with slightly heavier body panel as compared to the company's other devices with platinum color at the front and back panel. It consists of a 5.2-inch screen with IPS LCD screen with a 5.2-inch glass. It has a lower screen resolution of full HD at 1080 x 1920 pixels. It is infused with Sony's Triluminos display technology and an X-Reality engine that boosts the overall display quality of the device.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 consists of a metal and glass chassis with rounded edges. It features a water-resistant body and a fingerprint sensor for additional security. It features the Super AMOLED technology ensures deep blacks and vivid color saturations in the screen. The Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch display that has Quad-HD 1440 x 2560 resolution.

Both devices are protected by Gorilla Glass, with the Galaxy S7 sporting the 4th model and the Xperia XZ with an unspecified version.

Software and Hardware

According to Mobile Napps, both smartphones are powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset. Aside from it, the Samsung device also consists of another variant powered by Exynos 8890 Octa processor. The Sony Xperia phone features a 3 GB RAM as against the recent device 4 GB RAM.

When it comes to storage and memory, the Galaxy S7 touts 4GB of RAM coupled with either 32GB or 64GB of internal memory. While Xperia XZ offers a smaller, but very capable RAM capacity of 3GB with similar internal memory upgrades. Both have expandable storage of 32GB, 64 GB and even up to 256GB via microSD.

Camera

The Sony Xperia XZ excels with a 23-megapixel primary and a 13-megapixel secondary camera. The smartphone is touted to be an excellent selfie smartphone and will allow you to capture outstanding snaps because of its phase detection and laser autofocus, triple image sensing technology, 5-axis stabilization and HDR functionalities. On the other hand, the Galaxy S7 features a 12-megapixel rear and a 5-megapixel front camera, which supports Auto HDR function that allows you to take selfies even in the dark places.

Battery

From the comparison made of CP Entertainment, The battery size of the Galaxy S7 is a 3000 mAh one, while the Xperia XZ has a slightly smaller 2900 mAh battery pack. Coupled with battery saving features and an efficient Android 6.0 Marshmallow software, these devices can last an entire day of usage.

Price

Sony Xperia XZ was lately launched worldwide for $700 whereas the Samsung Galaxy S7 is available for $670.

Considering all the factors, features and price of both smartphones, I can say that both of these devices are definitely worth getting. They have different strong points and weaknesses.
