Microsoft Office For Android, iOS Planned For 2013

Microsoft Office for Android and iOS is finally getting some major development. Per reports, Microsoft product manager Petr Bobek has confirmed that the Redmond-based software giant is planning to release native iOS and Android versions of Office 2013 next year.

Discussing the product at a press event in the Czech Republic, Bobek assured that the Office 2013 app will hit Google's Android and Apple's iOS next year in March. Bobek stated that in addition to Windows, Microsoft Office will also be available on other operating systems like Windows Phone, Windows RT, Mac OS, Android, iOS and Symbian. It was also stated that a new version of Office Web Apps is on the way.

A native app of Office for mobile-based operating systems was previously seen running on an iPad, when images leaked on to the Internet in the early 2012. However, Microsoft, at that time, completely turned down the leak and stated that the rumor contained "bad info."

Apart from a native app, reports have also discussed the arrival of Office 2013, which is expected to be made available to businesses in December. This timeframe is in keeping with a consumer launch scheduled for the end of February 2013. The company also confirmed the latest information by stating that Office 365 services and other Office products for mobile (phones and tablets) will be released from March 2013.

However, per a Verge report, A U.S. spokesperson for Microsoft told the site that the company has not yet announced any kind of retail availability for the new Office. "We have said previously Office Mobile will work across Windows Phones, Android phones and iOS."

"The information shared by our Czech subsidiary is not accurate. We do not have anything further to share at this time," the new statement from Microsoft reads.

Microsoft is currently in the news for the upcoming launch of the company's Windows 8 OS for desktop, and the new Windows Phone 8 mobile operation system. The new information from the company has arrived after it was revealed that Microsoft has already started sending out in invitations for the launch of the Windows Phone 8, which is set for an Oct.29 unveiling in San Francisco.
