Diablo 2 Lead Designer Is Making A Comeback, Is It For The Upcoming Diablo 4?

Rumors about the upcoming Diablo 4 have been clouded with mystery and enigma as Blizzard has been silent in giving any updates of the iteration of the series. A lot of speculations arose that Blizzard may announce the upcoming updates of the Diablo 4 project in the latest BlizzCon 2016.

It would appear that we won't be hearing any news about the project until the Blizzard event but recently, fans from social media have gone crazy over a tweet posted by the lead designer of Diablo 2, David Brevik.

After much anticipation and excitement, fans raved over the announcement that the lead designer of the highly successful RPG of the early 2000 will work on a "project" that somehow feels like the foreshadowed Diablo 4. By then, a lot of fans are frantic for the answer to the question: "Are You Working On Diablo 4?" For hours, Brevik hasn't yet responded to the masses that led to the fans' hysteria and misconception. Apparently, Brevik was not working on any Diablo projects; instead, the RPG lead designer was working on another Diablo-like project - the free-to-play indie game, Path of Exile. After 2 days from his last tweet, Brevik has posted another tweet that officially confirms his involvement on the Path of Exile:

It appears that he is actually working for Grinding Gear Games (developer of Path of Exile) to promote and bring the game to the Chinese market. His influence from his previous work and accomplishments are seen to be a vital element to take the indie game to the next level.

The de facto lead designer and producer of Path of Exile has this to say: "David is an advisor, primarily for our launch in mainland China, but we hope to learn from his experience as much as we can over the coming months."

After the recent Diablo 4 misapprehension, the enigmatic question still remained unanswered. A lot of fans are somewhat disappointed that the key developer of the 2000 hit Diablo 2 is work on another project and is NOT currently affiliated with Blizzard. This just somehow reveals that he won't be working for the upcoming Diablo 4.

The mystery still remains - will we ever get any Diablo 4 developments? Will the epic RPG continues? It seems that we won't be having any answers to that until the next upcoming BlizzCon 2016.
