A brand new update is on the cards for Android owners. Per reports, Google is currently pushing out a massive update for the company's Play Store, which adds some eagerly awaited and much needed improvements to the content store.
The new updated, version 3.9.16, which follows the previous version 3.8.17 (released in August), allows users to delete previously downloaded apps from the All tab in the My Apps pane. The operation has been made even easier by a long press for selecting multiple entries.
The update also lets users remove the unattractive list of apps on their accounts, that have accumulated thanks to the numerous downloads over a period of time. However, users will not be able to accidently delete apps from their devices in this manner, as the Play Store won't let them remove anything from the list that has been currently installed, which means that more control is possible for users.
What's more, the update also improves app update notifications in Jelly Bean, letting the user know which app or apps are seeking an update.
The new update makes the most out of the new expandable notifications and delivers the update notifications for the apps that are in need of an upgrade, or the ones which have just received a new update from the developers. Moreover, the list also retains a user's position while scrolling up and down, and the next time they access it, the list will start from the exact point where the user left last time.
The Play Store now also lets users add apps, books, music, and other content to a Wishlist using the bookmark icon in the top right portion of the screen. Although it seems as if the list is just for bookmarking purposes, it doesn't seem possible to easily share the selections.
Additionally, Google, reportedly, has introduced the updated version of Google Calendar in the Play Store. The new version, previously found only on Nexus devices, has been made open for all, and not only allows the user to manage multiple calendars at once, but also have snooze functionality for events and pinch to zoom in day view.
The new features are available alongside the usual operations for creating, editing, and deleting events, as well as responding to invitations. Users, however, will need to run either Android Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean to successfully install and run the calendar. See here for the APK.
