Google has more plans up its sleeves as far as the Google Wallet is concerned. Per reports, Google is finally letting users, who still have a balance on their cards, an option to reclaim the left-over money.
While it was earlier reported that Google was ending the prepaid program, and that it's already stopped letting users add funds to cards, as well as link them to new phones, the new information implies that users who adopted Google Wallet's services a long time ago will now be able to get hold of the remaining balance in the account.
Google has recently put up a new form up on its site, which lets users submit their basic information and details for getting hold of their remaining prepaid balance. Users will need to provide their personal details, alongside some basic details from the Android handset the customer has previously used with Wallet.
The new form asks for the user's mail address which is associated with their Google Wallet device. The address can be found by opening the Google Wallet application and selecting "About" from the menu. The device ID can also be on the "About" page in the Wallet app.
However, in order to access the IMEI or MEID, users will need to open the Android Settings app, click on "About phone," and then click on "Status." Note that Google will not be able to process the requested refund unless the users enter all the information that their device currently displays.
Importantly, it is to be remembered that although the request has been sent, users will still have to wait before they receive the remaining balance, which is primarily because Google will not even start processing these requests until the end of the month. Moreover, the processing could be further delayed depending on how the user wants the money back.
Additionally, requests for repayment via prepaid MasterCard will only take a couple of weeks, while a check by mail could take nearly two months.
The new information regarding the Wallet has arrived after it was reported last month that Google will be discontinuing the support for prepaid cards from Oct.17.
