DICE has announced the release dates and launched the first trailer for its upcoming "Battlefield 3" DLC expansion Aftermath. The DLC pack is now set for a Nov. 27 release for PlayStation 3 Battlefield Premier users.
The new content from the company will be revealed later on Dec. 4 for Xbox 360 and PC Premium users, and a final launch for all PS3 players on Dec. 11. Xbox 360 and PC gamers not having a Premium subscription can get the DLC on Dec. 18. The free new content will arriving with a $50 Battlefield Premium subscription, and will also be available as a $15 individual download.
"Set amongst the shattered districts, streets and surrounding villages of a post-earthquake Tehran, Battlefield 3: Aftermath depicts a continuing struggle for supremacy and survival amongst the devastation," the official site states. "With operational capacity severely compromised the opposing forces must adapt and engage in vertical and horizontal urban combat amongst the dust and rubble with cracks and fissures in the terrain providing unexpected cover and paths to objectives. Additional support comes in the form of heavily modified troop transports and civilian vehicles specially adapted to deliver deadly force to the enemy."
As far as features are concerned, the Aftermath DLC will add four new multiplayer maps set in the streets and cities of a post-earthquake Iran. Additionally, the content will also introduce a new game mode called Scavenger. Gamers who play the Scavenger mode will begin a round with only a knife, one grenade, and a sidearm, and must hunt down the whole terrain for more powerful weapons to get leverage on their enemies.
The Aftermath content will also feature a new weapon, the crossbow, to players' arsenal. Additional achievements, assignments, and vehicles can also be attained via the new add-on.
This information is the newest revelation from the company after the arrival of Armored Kill DLC pack. Armored Kill is the biggest map in the history of the "Battlefield" series that was final made available for PC and Xbox fans only last month.
Aftermath will be the game's fourth of the five planned expansions. It follows Back to Karkand, Close Quarters, and Armored Kill, and precedes the final expansion, called End Game.
