Sprint customers in the U.S. could be treated to brand new update for their Galaxy S3s. Per reports, Sprint, allegedly, is pushing out new Jelly Bean 4.1 updates for their customers who own a Samsung Galaxy S3.
The U.S. variant of the Galaxy S3 was previously dealt with a heavy blow when a Samsung spokesperson revealed that the device would get the highly anticipated update next year. However, the spokesperson didn't include Sprint in the announcement, and now it seems as if this could be the reason.
Folks at Android Central have only recently posted a leaked screenshot that states that users on Sprint will start receiving their Jelly Bean 4.1 updates starting today. Although it is being said that the new update process will bring a new build L710VPALJ7, the date at the top of the image is followed by a disclaimer that it is subject to change.
Customers will now hope that the post is legit and that they become the first in the United States to get the update on their phones. This is because the customers in U.S. are not so lucky when it comes to Android updates from Samsung.
This is the latest information regarding the Samsung-based device after it was reported that all kinds of Android 4.1 updates would arrive in the U.S. next year. The Samsung spokesperson, as mentioned earlier, stated that the U.S. carrier variants will be the last ones to receive Jelly Bean.
At that time it was revealed that owners of the Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile variant will probably have to wait until 2013 if they want the official Jelly Bean update from the company on their devices. Sprint, however, was missing from this enumeration, and the new leak could well be the reason why.
This is also major information after Google announced its Android event that has been scheduled for Oct. 29 at 10AM in New York City. Apart from the probable speculations that Google will take this opportunity to drop the price on the Nexus 7 to just $99, fans could also receive more information on the Android Jelly Bean updates for Sprint customers.
