The new Google Nexus 4 smartphone has surfaced online, with a UK mobile retailer listing the handset with an alleged release date of Oct. 30.
The smartphone is reportedly manufactured by LG and sports a large 4.7-inch display, rivaling the screens of the popular Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC One XL.
According to one part of the listing on the UK mobile retailer's online store, the Carphone Warehouse, the new Google Nexus 4 comes with the very latest version of the Android operating system, dubbed Jelly Bean, though other reports contradict this information.
The Nexus phone will reportedly have a resolution of 1,280 x 768 pixels, Near-Field communication (NFC) connectivity, 2GB of RAM, as well as a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor under the hood. Despite the large 4.7-inch touchscreen display, the handset measures just 0.3 inches in thickness.
When it comes to built-in storage, the smartphone only packs 8GB of internal memory, and it does not have a micro SD expansion slot. Other features include a front-facing camera with an unspecified number of megapixels, and an 8-megapixel rear facing camera capable of shooting full HD images or videos.
Meanwhile, it remains uncertain exactly which version of Android it will be using. Several sections of the listing on Carphone Warehouse state the operating system as Android Jelly Bean 4.2, but one section in the technical details lists the OS as Jelly bean 4.1.2. Judging by the listing, the 4.2 build of Android appears to bear the same name as the 4.1 build, i.e. Jelly Bean, but the name of the build might change once the OS is officially introduced. According to various rumors, the next version of Android will be called Key Lime Pie.
The UK mobile retailer lists the device with an Oct. 30 availability date, and the Nexus 4 appears to be available on the O2 and Vodafone networks for free on contracts of £31 (about $50) or more per month.
The Google Nexus 4 smartphone is rumored to make its official debut at a press event in New York on Oct. 29, the same day that Windows Phone 8 launches. Google has not made anything official yet, and has not commented on the UK listing.
