Kodak, the world's leading film manufacturer and a company that has created a number of creative tools, is now re-introducing one of its oldest camera models in a new form -- the Kodak Ektra smartphone.
Kodak, which has focused its products mainly on photographic equipment, is now ready to take on the world of smartphone photography. The original Kodak Ektra was released back in 1941, that is 75 years older than the new iPhone 7 Plus. With a lot of technological advancements, The iPhone 7 Plus may be leading the pack, but is lacking one feature that serious and hobbyist photographers have been waiting for a long time, the manual control.
Compared to the iPhone 7 Plus, the Ektra is packed with a whopping 21-megapixel sensor rear camera and an aperture of f/2.0. Yes, the 7 Plus is equipped with two cameras at the back, a wide 28mm f/1.8 and a telephoto 56mm f/2.8 zoom, however, the user still leaves the controls to the iPhones computer to decide on the best setting.
The Ektra provides DSLR functionality by providing a customizable Manual mode that allows the user the freedom of manually adjusting the Shutter Speed and the ISO Rating. By adjusting the shutter speeds, the user now has the ability to take pictures such as light trails, Milky Way shots, or other slow shutter types of photos. In addition, the ability to choose the ISO rating will help the user minimize the noise from low light situations. These features have always been on the wish lists of photographers and have now come true.
The Kodak Ektra also takes its classic design, steel-rimmed lens, a textured finish, and a sleek design that gives the feel of a proper point and shoot camera.
Other features include a built-in Snapseed editing software, optical image stabilization, a photo-printing app, and comes loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. The Ektra also features a 3000mAh battery, 3GB of RAM, 32GB storage and a Corning Gorilla Glass covering both the lenses and the screen.
With a classic, stylish design, high-end smart phone specs, and manual camera controls, the new Kodak Ektra is truly a force to be reckoned with.
