‘Star Wars’ Han Solo Movie News And Updates: Donald Glover Confirmed To Play As Young Lando Calrissian

The new "Star Wars" Han Solo movie has just added a major cast in the person of Donald Glover, who will play the role of Lando Calrissian in his younger years. The offshoot movie from the "Star Wars" space saga is set to be released in 2018. This latest development confirms rumors that Glover is being considered for the part.

How Lando's Character Was Formed

Lucasfilm, the producer of the "Star Wars" Han Solo movie, said that the Glover will portray Lando in his "formative years." He was a young underworld scoundrel in the galaxy. "We're so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us," said Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directors of "The Lego Movies."

The two were tasked to direct the "Star Wars" Han Solo movie. "These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we'd like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever," the two added.

Glover Has A Lot In His Plate

Donald Glover will have a lot on his plate right now. Aside from the work that he will now do with the sstand-aloneHan Solo movie, he also stars in two TV series, "Atlanta" and "Community." In the movie, he will co-star with Alden Ehrenreich, who will play the young Han Solo. The movie is set at a time that was "previously unexplored" in the "Star Wars" space saga.

Glover will be taking over the role that was originally portrayed by Billy Dee Williams. Lando Carlissian first appeared in the "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" and reprised it again in "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi." Glover, is also a good rapper, and will appear in a still undisclosed role in "Spider-Man: Homecoming." Watch his rapping skills in the video below.
