T-Mobile subscribers are set for some welcome news. Per reports, the T-Mobile version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is currently getting the eagerly-anticipated Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update.
The T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3, model number SGH-T999, is apparently receiving its official Android 4.1.1 update. The new update version is T999UVDLJA and the build date on it shows Oct. 20. Other carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular are also expected to push out their own Jelly Bean updates for the subscribers in the coming days.
The new update for Galaxy S3 owners is expected to arrive with new features such as Google Now, AllShare Cast sharing. and Blocking Mode, just to name a few. The update is also expected to improve Wi-Fi calling and the predictive search function of the device.
In a nutshell, the improvements and enhancements that are arriving along with the update include better performance (backed by the Project Butter, making it even smoother and faster), access to Google Now, upgraded sizable pop-up play screen, new notifications bar, two home screen modes, and a reorganized settings menu.
However, T-Mobile owners can update their phones in a couple of ways. The OTA (Over The Air) update to the new OS is available for download from T-Mobile, and it is recommended that users connect over Wi-Fi to complete the update. The manual update, on the other hand, will require Samsung Kies, for the ones who don’t want an OTA update. Users need to ensure that they are on the latest version of Kies prior to attempting the update. Interested users can go here to confirm their Kies version.
With the latest update reaching the customers, T-Mobile is now only the second U.S. carrier to push the Android Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 smartphone. Sprint already started the Jelly Bean update roll out on the Galaxy S3 last month. Other major carriers such as Verizon are expected to introduce the Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S3 over the next few months.
Among other U.S.-based subscribers, Verizon has always been late in rolling out updates in a timely manner. However, now, a big possibility exists that the company could turn out to be the last among U.S.-based carriers to push out the official Jelly Bean update for its customers using a Galaxy S3.
