Samsung’s Galaxy S2 owners may finally have some good heading their way. Per reports, a brand new Jelly Bean ROM has been leaked for S2 owners by the Android community.
The newly leaked ROM is currently in its beta stage, and interested users who may want to flash it should also be prepared for a few bugs. However, the S2 owners will be glad to know that the manufacturer didn’t forget about the device and is currently working to bring Project Butter, Google Now, and all other goodies to the 2011 flagship device.
However, I9100XXLSJ is said to be stable and the final firmware update will be same or closer to this version. GSM arena states that users will notice that “the TouchWiz interface on the S II has been updated and is now identical to the one on the Galaxy S III and the Note II, down to the bloop bloop sound when you touch the screen. It also includes all the new features found on these phones, including Direct Call, Smart Stay and Pop-up play.”
“Back in July when we heard about the Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S III we also learned that the Galaxy S II is on the manufacturer’s list for the refresh. While the current flagship is in the middle of the roll-out process (some got the firmware earlier while others, in the US, are still waiting for it), the Galaxy S II just recently saw its first Jelly Bean ROM being leaked,” a Pocketnow report states.
This is not the first time that the S2 has been mentioned in the news on the account of an OS update and, as mentioned earlier, the first real rumors about the arrival of Jelly Bean on the device arrived back in July when it was reported that Samsung was planning to push out the new operating system on the device.
It was mentioned at that time that Samsung “has started testing the Android 4.1 update on the Samsung Galaxy S II. While there is no further information out there (nor official) we’re left wondering.”
