‘The Last Ship’ Season 4 Air Date Revealed; Peter Weller To Replace Rachel Scott?

The viewers can expect that TNT’s “The Last Ship”is nothing short of action and drama when it returns to its regular programming by next year. Following the renewal of the series for its fourth and fifth installments is interesting news on its air dates, casting, and storyline.

As a quick recap, the finale of “The Last Ship”season 3 saw the survival of the series’ main man Captain Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) and ironically, the death of Tex (John Pyper-Ferguson). Tex risked his life and caught the bullet intended for Tom when Allison (Elisabeth Rohm) attempted to kill him.

Devastated by what happened, Tom quickly stepped down from his high-profile career. According to showrunner Steven Kane, the downfall of Tex is emotionally killing Chandler.

"We thought that of all the characters that could have had some sort of breakdown or just felt the most burdens, it would be Chandler," Kane said.

While Tom will have new life in the upcoming season of the popular action show, a new character will join the adventures of the crew in the new season. Per TV Line, “Robocop’s” Peter Weller will be seen in the impending season of the action-drama as Dr. Paul Vellek, a world-renowned authority in genetic modification and plant biotechnology. Vellek’s proficiency will play a crucial role in the latest mission of the squad.

No, Vellek will not replace Dr. Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra),a paleo microbiologist who created the cure for the virus. Scott’s death was already verified following her tragic shooting in the conclusion of season 2.

It looks like an explosive premiere of "The Last Ship" is set to rock our tv screens next year. While its home network and the producers have not released an exact date of the launch, a source claimed that season 4 is expected to air in June 2017.
