Microsoft’s Xbox Live faced heavy fire from fans after a short-term service outage brought the Live service to a standstill. While it created problems for users, the company was aware of the difficulties and now, per the company, every issue has been addressed and the service has been restored.
Recently, Xbox Live appeared to be offline for many gamers. Reports did rounds Microsoft's network was encountering problems, which users detected and subsequently flooded the company’s official Twitter account with questions and complaints. It was also stated that attempting to sign in to Live resulted in an error (status code: 80072ee2).
For that time, all Xbox Live services were currently inaccessible to those affected and Microsoft’s Xbox status page stated users "may experience difficulties viewing backgrounds, channels, or slots from Xbox Live in the Xbox Dashboard." However, the outage at that time seemed far more severe than what the company actually portrayed it to be.
Later, when the company looked into the problem, it found out that users were having trouble signing in. Microsoft, however, assured that it would update the site every 30 minutes until the disturbance was resolved.
It was reported that the company had addressed and resolved all remaining issues linked to the Xbox Live service, and the Xbox Live services had been restored and were functioning properly.
What’s disappointing for Microsoft is that the reports of this outage came only a day after Microsoft celebrated the tenth anniversary of Xbox Live.
The company, only recently, celebrated the tenth birthday of Xbox Live. Moreover, to mark the special occasion, Microsoft also allowed users to download a copy of the Kinect XBLA game “Wreckateer” for free for the next 48 hours. In addition to the free game, the company also slashed prices on titles such as “Battlefield 1943,” “Castle Crashers,” “Fruit Ninja Kinect,” “Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2,” “Bastion,” “Peggle,” and “Full House Poke.” All these titles are currently available for half the price in Microsoft's online store.
The company is also offering its U.S.-based users the option to download a 10-year gamerpic. What this will do is it will allow these users to enter in a competition to win a custom Xbox Live Anniversary Xbox 360 console along with other additional prizes.
