“Call of Duty: Black Ops 2,” is just the second game after the previously released “FIFA 13” to report errors, crashes and bugs within the game before the holiday season sets in. Gamers, who have been playing the newly revealed first-person shooter (FPS) for a while, may have observed that the game crashes and freezes a lot.
These problems have made a lot of gamers and tech-dedicated Web sites question Treyarch’s policies with the new game, and if the company will be coming up with new fixes for these problems. However, per reports, Treyarch has recently confirmed on its official community page that the company is working on releasing the patch as soon as possible, if not for the console versions of the game, at least for the PC version.
“We have some fixes coming, but we wanted to make you aware of these issues right away in case they affect you,” the official page states.
The issues and crashes are as follows:
- A certain crash may occur if no DLC is owned when joining on a player that is in the Nuketown 2025 lobby.
- A new crash resulting from having both an on-board audio device and a PCI sound card enabled at the same time.
- Players may experience a crash when the user tries to run the game without an audio device installed.
- A crash that’s happening if a user is changing the resolution while livestreaming.
- Users may get a crash, when viewing a film as a party, if the party leader leaves while the film is buffering.
- Loading Movies might not play if a user decides to unplug a USB audio output device after the game has already launched.
- A crash where users are losing functionality after locking their PC while a loading movie is playing.
- A steam error could appear after selecting update when prompted with a “Game Settings Have Changed” message. This issue can be resolved by launching the game again.
Although Treyarch hasn’t announced any official release date for the patch as of yet, it is expected that the fixes along with the patch will arrive sooner rather than later.
Additionally, it was also reported that the PlayStation 3 version of the newly released game was experiencing several issues. These issues ranged from freezing issues and server issues to sound glitches. Apparently, some players were also getting messages stating “more players are needed to balance teams” although they’re already in full lobbies.
