More news has emerged on the Microsoft Windows Phone front. Per reports, the recently rumored Windows Phone 7.8 update from Microsoft for the users of Windows Phone 7.x version of the OS is now set to arrive in a matter of days or weeks.
This information is a completely new development on the Windows Phone 7.8 front as rumors emerged over the weekend, with Nokia’s leaked alleged training documents for China, that Windows Phone 7.8 is set to arrive in early 2013. Now if the new report is to be believed, the previous report of the training documents can be easily deemed as false.
What has now been supposedly stated is that not only is the updated OS is arriving in a few days, but also that the Windows Phone 7.8 has been released to manufacturing (RTM) this week. Therefore, as expected, the new refresh would likely be pushed to devices in the near future i.e in the coming days to weeks and not in 2013.
“Nokia and Microsoft held a developer event today in Singapore focussing on Windows Phone 8 development,” a WMPoweruser report states. “There our tipster, and all the other attendees, were told by the head of Nokia Asia Pacific Developer himself that Windows Phone 7.8 has RTM’ed this week, and that we should expect the update to be released to devices in a matter of days to weeks, but certainly not all the way into 2013. He also confirmed Windows Phone 7.8 will not receive IE10 as the browser was fully hardware accelerated, which Windows Phone 7.8 hardware did not support.”
Among other details, it was also reported that the Nokia Lumia 920/820 Recommended Retail Price (RRP) and release date for Singapore will be announced on Nov. 27 with device availability in early December, and that the device will be penta-band and support LTE worldwide.
However, what is still unknown is that if the new information refers to all Windows Phone 7.5 devices or only to Lumia phones (or just Asia and Pacific regions).
The new information regarding the brand new OS has arrived just days after it was reported that according to Nokia’s training manuals for China, the Windows Phone 7.8 has been scheduled to arrive sometime in early 2013.
