Google’s Play Store has been in the news for quite some time now with the company adding new features to the app store nearly every day, and also making the interface much better than it previously used to be. Now, per reports, thanks to the latest Play Store update that is set to arrive, Google could have a bunch of changes waiting to be applied to the store.
The indications regarding these changes were first uncovered by the team at Android Police, who recently tore apart the newest Play Store APK, in hopes of revealing some of the changes Google’s been working on.
It seems like Google has been improvising its methods when it comes to malware in the Play Store, and now that trend appears to continue here. As detailed by the team, the APK shows signs of Google implementing a certain feature to let users flag apps as specifically harmful, rather than one of the other categories for marking an app as objectionable.
Among other new features, Google Plus is getting a lot of recognition within the Play Store. The prominence of Google Plus within the Play Store has now been backed by evidence suggesting that Google will soon be requiring users to have Google Plus profiles if they wish to submit any Play Store app reviews. Moreover, there are also signs that the app could be getting new Google Plus sharing features which, as believed, will be needed to share the reviews themselves.
“The Play Store also has a crapload of new Google+ stuff. Maybe one or two of these are for the new ‘Add People You May Know’ feature that's currently live, but the majority of them are unused. So what are they for? I actually recognize most of these pieces, they're parts of the Google+ share dialog,” the Android Police team states. “So why does the Play Store need to recreate the Google+ sharing dialog? Right now it uses the share button in the action bar for sharing the current app over various services (including G+) so this must be for something else. My wild guess is that you'll soon be able to share your app reviews to your G+ circles, and maybe the share dialog needs to be recreated because you only get 1 share button per screen.”
Other changes include support for pre-orders, and maybe an entire visual refurbish to more closely resemble the web-based Play Store.
